Frost was operated for SMHI for weather forecasting. Since 2015, SMHI and MET Norway were using Frost for weather forecasting for Sweden and Norway through the MetCoOp collaboration project.
The Frost cluster had a LINPACK performance of approximately 189 Teraflop/sec using all 5,984 compute cores.
The system was delivered in the end of 2014 by ClusterVision and made available to users in March 2015. The cluster was decommissioned in the spring of 2019 and its nodes moved to the SMHI research and development cluster Bi.
