NSC introduction day, Autumn 2017

NSC is pleased to present an NSC introduction day open for all users of NSC resources on October 25th 2017.

What is it?

An introduction day to NSC computational resources and support, open for all users, held and provided by NSC, Linköping University.

The purpose is to provide information for how to utilize NSC resources from the perspective of a new user. It is split into four different sections, the first three are general for all users and the last part is specific to the area of electronic structure calculations (e.g. VASP).

The topics include for instance: When to use HPC?, documentation and support, access and security, using ThinLinc, queue system, best practices.

The format is presentations given by NSC staff. Coffee breaks are included.

A program for the intro day, 10:00 - 16:00 October 25th 2017.

The intro day will be divided into four parts, with 2 coffee breaks (included) at the start and between session 3 and 4. A lunch break (not included) is at 12:00 - 13:00. OBS: times below are rough estimates.

14:20 - 14:40 Coffe break

14:40 - 16:00 Electronic structure calculations
Software and tools at NSC, e.g. VASP, Quantum Espresso, VirtualNanoLab (VNL)

Venue

The meeting venue, NSC in the ‘Jupiter’ meeting room. More specifically: House G (Galaxen), entrance 83. Walk a few meters straight ahead, when NSC corridor is on the right, corridor on the left is towards ‘Jupiter’ (on left hand side after few meters). NSC personnel will provide access to corridor, alternatively check with general contact person below.
