CESM is a fully-coupled, community, global climate model that provides state-of-the-art computer simulations of the Earth’s past, present, and future climate states.
CESM is a free, open source model. The source code, build and run scripts can be downloaded as described in e.g. the CESM 2.1.0 quick guide.
At NSC, CESM is not made available as pre-built software through the module system. Instead, for some systems configuration information (for compiling and running the model) is available so users can compile their own model after downloading the source code from official CESM webpages.
Users download the source and compile and run using the Tetralith platform information. Details on how to build the model can be found in the SNIC knowledge base. Building CESM 1.2.2.1 Tetralith and Building CESM 2.1.0 Tetralith.
